the air is spicy. up at 9,000 feet elevation, the hit series battle on the beach for hgtv was taking a new form. instead of beach houses, it’s time for mountain houses.

as a battle on the beach veteran, i translated my skills from the beach to the mountain. same job, different (and thinner) atmosphere. supply chain issues were tougher up there ~2 miles up— delivery trucks do not like to climb mountains that big. deliveries were often delayed, and shipping is more costly. the television side of the show loved the supply chain drama. the contractors, however, were less enthused. keeping everyone happy with managed expectations was no easy feat. many deep breaths were encouraged with and without canned air, both to beat the altitude and calm the nerves.
